Cartridge filter price in Bangladesh: a buyer’s guide

Global Filter cartridge filter housings

“What is the price of a cartridge filter?” is one of the most common questions we hear from plants in Bangladesh. The honest answer is that it depends — and knowing what it depends on is the best way to avoid overpaying, or underpaying for a filter that fails early.

This guide explains the factors that set a cartridge’s price, how to compare quotations fairly, and how to lower your total filtration cost without taking risks with product quality.

We do not publish price lists, because prices change with specifications, quantities and import costs. What we can do is help you ask the right questions.

The six things that decide a cartridge’s price

MediaWound, meltblown, pleated, membrane
RatingMicron size; absolute or nominal
SizeLength and diameter
End cap and sealsFit your housing and fluid
Quality and documentsPharma grade, validation files
Quantity and stockVolume, local stock, import

1. The media

The material inside the cartridge is the biggest price factor.

  • Wound and meltblown polypropylene — the lowest-cost options, for coarse and general particle removal.
  • Pleated depth (polypropylene, polyester, glass microfibre) — more media area, higher capacity and higher price.
  • Membranes (PES, nylon, PTFE, polysulfone) — the highest price, because they give an absolute cut-off and are used for final and sterilizing filtration.

2. The micron rating and how it is defined

Finer ratings usually cost more. Just as important is whether the rating is absolute (retains essentially all particles at that size) or nominal (retains a large percentage). An absolute-rated cartridge often costs more than a nominal one of the same number, and does a different job. Read more in Depth filter vs membrane filter.

3. Length and diameter

Standard cartridges come in several lengths, and high-flow cartridges have larger diameters. Longer and larger cartridges contain more media and cost more per piece — but may cost less per litre filtered.

4. End cap and seals

End caps and gasket or O-ring materials must match your housing and your fluid. Special end caps or seal materials can change the price and the lead time.

5. Quality level and documentation

Cartridges for pharmaceutical use are made under tighter controls, often in clean rooms, and come with documents that QA needs for validation. Global Filter, for example, makes its high-purity products in FDA/USP class clean rooms. That quality is part of the price.

6. Quantity, stock and import

Buying in larger quantities usually lowers the unit price. Items held in local stock can be delivered quickly; others must be imported, which adds time and cost.

Price per cartridge vs cost per litre

Cheapest cartridge
  • Low unit price
  • Clogs early
  • More change-outs and downtime
Right-matched cartridge
  • Higher unit price
  • Lasts longer
  • Lower cost per batch

Comparing only the price of one cartridge is the most common mistake. What matters is how much it costs to filter your process over a year.

Consider two options:

  • A cheap cartridge that clogs in three days and needs frequent change-outs.
  • A better-matched cartridge that costs more but lasts much longer.

The second can be cheaper overall once you include:

  • the number of cartridges used per year,
  • labour and downtime for each change-out,
  • product lost during change-outs,
  • the risk and cost of a failure.

Ask every supplier to help you estimate cost per batch or cost per litre, not just the unit price.

How to compare quotations fairly

When quotations arrive from different suppliers, check that they describe the same thing:

Check Why it matters
Media type Meltblown, pleated depth and membrane are not interchangeable
Micron rating — absolute or nominal Same number, different performance
Length and diameter Different media area
End cap and seal material Must fit your housing and fluid
Manufacturer and country Quality level and documentation differ
Documents included Certificates, validation or extractables data for QA
Lead time and stock A cheap filter that arrives late can stop production
Warranty and support Who helps if the filter underperforms?

If one quotation is much cheaper, it is usually because one of these items is different.

Filter housing prices

Housings are a one-time purchase, but the wrong housing can raise cartridge costs for years. A housing’s price depends on:

  • Material — stainless steel grade or plastic
  • Number of cartridges it holds
  • Connections and pressure rating
  • Finish and certificates required for pharmaceutical use

A housing that takes high-flow cartridges can replace several standard housings on large water or beverage lines. See Filter housings & bags.

Five ways to lower your total filtration cost

  1. Protect expensive membranes with prefilters. A pleated depth stage upstream can greatly extend membrane life.
  2. Choose the rating you need, not the smallest available. Over-specifying adds cost and pressure drop.
  3. Standardise sizes and end caps across the plant to simplify stock and ordering.
  4. Plan change-out stock with your supplier so you never pay for emergency shipments.
  5. Track pressure drop. Changing cartridges on data rather than on a fixed calendar avoids both early and late change-outs.

Planning change-out stock

Running out of cartridges is expensive: a line can stop, or staff may fit whatever is available, even if it is the wrong rating. A simple stock plan avoids both.

  1. List every filter position in the plant: housing, cartridge type, rating, size and end cap.
  2. Record how often each position is changed today, from maintenance records.
  3. Calculate yearly usage per cartridge type.
  4. Agree a minimum stock level for each type, based on usage and the supplier’s lead time.
  5. Review every quarter as production volumes change.

Once this list exists, it also shows where standardising sizes and end caps would reduce the number of different cartridges you need to hold. Share the list with us and we will plan deliveries around it.

When it is worth upgrading the media

Sometimes the cheapest route is to pay more per cartridge:

  • When prefilters clog within days. A pleated depth cartridge has far more media area than a wound or meltblown one of the same size and usually lasts longer.
  • When the final membrane is replaced too often. Adding or upgrading the prefilter protects it.
  • When an audit asks for documents you cannot provide. Switching to a documented pharmaceutical-grade cartridge removes the finding.
  • When a line needs very high flow. High-flow cartridges can replace several standard cartridges and housings, cutting change-out labour.

In each case, compare the yearly cost before and after, not the unit price.

Questions to ask any filter supplier

  • Is the rating absolute or nominal, and how was it tested?
  • Which media and seal materials are compatible with my fluid and temperature?
  • What documents come with the cartridge for my validation file?
  • Which sizes are in local stock, and what is the lead time for the rest?
  • Can you help me estimate cost per batch rather than price per cartridge?
  • Who supports me if a filter underperforms?

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of a cartridge filter in Bangladesh?
It depends on media, micron rating, length, end cap, quality level and quantity. Send your specification for an exact quote.

Why are membrane cartridges so much more expensive?
They give an absolute cut-off and are used for final and sterilizing filtration, which requires tighter manufacturing and documentation.

Are cheaper local filters good enough?
For some general prefiltration duties they may be. For pharmaceutical final or sterilizing steps, choose validated, documented cartridges.

Do you sell household water filter cartridges?
No. We supply industrial and laboratory filtration for pharmaceutical, food and process plants.
